The ENT and Audiology teams at UPMC Mercy and UPMC West Mifflin Outpatient Center provide state-of-the-art hearing assessment and rehabilitation services, fostering innovation in patient care and clinical research.


Position Summary

The Audiologist will support the ENT department by performing hearing and balance assessments, interpreting results, providing patient counseling, and offering rehabilitative services using hearing aids and assistive technologies. This daylight role is Monday–Friday and offers opportunities for clinical growth, teaching, and community outreach.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine and advanced audiological tests to assess hearing abilities and contribute to medical diagnoses.

  • Interpret test findings, counsel patients, and provide rehabilitative guidance, including hearing aid selection and training.

  • Maintain and monitor audiology test equipment; report issues promptly.

  • Contribute to clinical education: at least two hours/year of didactic instruction or ten hours/year supervision of residents or audiology students.

  • Participate in public hearing screenings or extramural outreach programs annually.

  • Support clinical research projects through data collection, analysis, and documentation.

  • Demonstrate service excellence to patients, staff, physicians, and visitors.

  • Administer additional hearing-aid services beyond the basic audiologic battery, demonstrating advanced clinical competency.


Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Audiology (M.A.) or Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.).

  • Current Audiology State License in practicing state, maintaining required continuing education (20 hours/2 years).

  • Privileges at all UPMC satellite hospitals and enrollment for all accepted insurance products, including Medicare.

  • Strong clinical knowledge of hearing assessment, diagnostics, and rehabilitative techniques.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and patient counseling skills.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.


Licensure & Certifications

  • Licensed Clinical Audiologist

  • Act 34 Clearance
