Job Summary

The Associate Scientist II will support the Extractables and Leachables (E&L) scientific excellence at Baxter’s Ahmedabad R&D center. This role involves applying advanced analytical technologies (LC-MS, GC-MS, GC, UV, LC, IC, ICP-MS, ICP-OES) to address complex analytical challenges such as structure elucidation. The scientist will align technical expertise with business needs, support product development, contribute to investigations, and drive innovation initiatives.

You will collaborate with the Team Lead and global subject matter experts to serve Baxter’s global business units, uphold quality and compliance, and expand your professional network.


Key Responsibilities

Research & Development

  • Lead or contribute to all phases of Extractables & Leachables studies conducted internally and with CROs, including study design, sample preparation, analysis, and data interpretation.

  • Author and review experimental protocols and technical reports in English.

  • Ensure all scientific outputs are high quality, sound, and meet business needs.

  • Interpret complex analytical data and present findings for varied audiences.

  • Innovate by integrating multiple disciplines to develop new products, processes, or methods.

  • Track and report on regulatory environments relevant to E&L, Elemental Impurities, and Structure Elucidation.

  • Contribute to long-term departmental scientific strategies.

Laboratory & Equipment

  • Support the setup and development of the R&D E&L laboratory.

  • Ensure instrumentation is qualified, maintained, and aligned with business requirements.

  • Operate and troubleshoot chromatographic and spectroscopic instruments effectively.

Compliance & Quality

  • Maintain compliance with Quality System Regulations, GMP, and other relevant guidelines.

  • Promote a culture of quality and regulatory compliance within the team and laboratory.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex problems innovatively.

  • Communicate technical information clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.


Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s degree in Pharmacy or Chemistry, or

  • Ph.D. in a related Chemistry field.

Experience

  • 8 to 12 years of relevant experience.

  • Proficient in at least one of the following: LC-MS, HRMS, GC-MS, ICP-MS.

  • Skilled in analytical development and validation.

  • Able to critically analyze chromatographic and spectroscopic data.

  • Competent in operating and troubleshooting analytical instrumentation.

Skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).

  • Knowledge of GMP and regulatory guidelines.

  • Technical, managerial, leadership, project management, and strategic capabilities.

  • Ability to analyze and solve complex problems innovatively.
