Position Overview

The Associate Project Manager (APM), Scientific Communications plays a critical role in planning, coordinating, and executing scientific communication projects, including publications, medical content, and congress deliverables. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Scientific Communications – India, this role requires close collaboration with global and local stakeholders to ensure timely, compliant, and high-quality project execution.

This position is ideal for candidates with 3+ years of project management experience in life sciences or regulated environments, with exposure to scientific publications, medical communications, or related fields.


Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Plan and manage end-to-end project schedules, scope, dependencies, and deliverables for publications, medical content, and congress activities.

  • Stakeholder Coordination: Facilitate team meetings, capture decisions and action items, and maintain effective communication across global and local teams.

  • Data & Reporting: Build dashboards and generate reports to track KPIs, data quality, project progress, and compliance adherence.

  • Congress & Publication Support: Coordinate congress planning, support publication operations, and manage scientific deliverables in collaboration with global teams.

  • Process Improvement: Identify process inefficiencies, propose automation opportunities, and contribute to adoption of new tools or workflow enhancements.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to Amgen SOPs, quality standards, and regulatory requirements for all scientific communications.


Required Qualifications & Experience

Education:

  • Master’s degree in life sciences, pharmacy, or related discipline OR

  • Bachelor’s degree with 1.5+ years of directly related industry experience OR

  • Associate’s degree with 3+ years of directly related industry experience

Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years of project management experience leading cross-functional initiatives, preferably in a regulated, compliance-driven environment.

  • Familiarity with scientific communications, publications, or medical writing processes.

  • Knowledge of biotech platforms such as Salesforce and Veeva Vault preferred.

  • Experience in congress planning, publication submission processes, and scientific communication workflows.

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Miro, and project management tools (e.g., MS Planner).

  • Exposure to automation or AI-assisted workflows (Power Platform, VBA, low-code/no-code tools) is advantageous.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proven ability to facilitate meetings, summarize decisions, and provide clear status updates.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple time zones in a matrixed organization.
