About the Opportunity

Johnson & Johnson is seeking an accomplished Associate Director, Medical Science Liaison (MSL) – Cardiac Electrophysiology to support scientific leadership, clinical education, and strategic engagement within the cardiovascular domain. This fully remote role supports the Biosense Webster Scientific Affairs team and interfaces with leading electrophysiology experts across the United States.

This senior-level position is critical for driving scientific strategy, building strong KOL partnerships, supporting clinical research, and elevating medical education initiatives in cardiac electrophysiology.


Role Overview

As an Associate Director, MSL, you will serve as a key scientific and clinical resource for internal teams and external healthcare professionals. You will collaborate closely with surgeons, electrophysiologists, clinical investigators, and cross-functional partners to advance the scientific understanding, real-world application, and clinical outcomes of cardiac ablation and diagnostic platforms.

You will leverage deep cardiovascular expertise to bridge scientific innovations with clinical practice, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and current medical evidence.


Key Responsibilities

Scientific Engagement & KOL Relationship Management

  • Develop and execute strategic engagement plans with KOLs, electrophysiologists, surgeons, and medical societies.

  • Build and maintain high-impact scientific relationships within the electrophysiology and interventional cardiology community.

  • Provide balanced, evidence-based scientific information on portfolio technologies and disease states.

Medical and Scientific Leadership

  • Act as a subject matter expert in cardiac electrophysiology, offering scientific education and clinical insights to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Communicate complex clinical data effectively to scientific and non-scientific audiences.

  • Contribute to medical education programs, advisory board discussions, and scientific training.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Clinical Affairs, R&D, Marketing, Product Management, and Scientific Affairs teams.

  • Provide field intelligence, competitive insights, and scientific input to guide portfolio and strategy development.

  • Support publication planning, review scientific content, and participate in scientific conferences and symposia.

Research Support & Evidence Generation

  • Engage with investigators on Investigator-Initiated Studies (IIS) and collaborative research concepts.

  • Offer scientific and technical support to clinical studies.

  • Organize and assess scientific and market insights for pre-launch and post-launch initiatives.

Education & Internal Training

  • Deliver scientific training for Sales, Marketing, and internal teams.

  • Participate in ongoing organizational medical education and certification programs.

  • Develop impactful educational materials aligned with clinical and strategic objectives.


Required Qualifications (Experience Mandatory)

  • Advanced scientific degree required (MD or PhD).

  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience in biotech/medical devices focused on cardiovascular medicine.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Medical Affairs, MSL, or Clinical Practice.

  • Strong expertise in cardiovascular medicine; electrophysiology experience preferred.

  • Deep understanding of clinical research, medical guidelines, and regulatory processes.

  • Proven ability to build KOL networks in cardiology or electrophysiology.

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize scientific data.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

  • Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment.

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools.

  • Ability to travel up to 50 percent.


Preferred Skills

  • Experience in cardiac ablation, appendage closure, or structural heart technologies.

  • Prior involvement in publication planning, medical education, or scientific training.

  • Experience representing medical organizations at national and international scientific meetings.


Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary Range (US):

  • USD 137,000 – 235,750
    California Bay Area:

  • USD 168,000 – 271,400
