🎯 Role Overview:

The Associate Director – Digital Endpoint Lead will play a pivotal leadership role within the Advanced Data Science team in the Data Sciences organization. You will be responsible for the development and implementation of digital biomarkers and endpoints across clinical trials and life cycle programs, driving innovation in the use of digital health technologies (DHTs) like wearables, sensors, and mobile platforms.


πŸ“Œ Key Responsibilities:

πŸ”Ή Scientific Strategy & Execution:

  • Identify, design, validate, and implement novel digital endpoints for use in clinical trials and product lifecycle management.

  • Drive scientific rigor, clinical relevance, and regulatory readiness of digital health technologies.

πŸ”Ή Algorithm Development:

  • Oversee the development of algorithms and analytical frameworks to extract insights from wearable/sensor data.

  • Ensure clinical applicability and integration into evidence-generation strategies.

πŸ”Ή Regulatory & Scientific Contribution:

  • Contribute to regulatory filings, publications, and scientific presentations.

  • Represent the digital health vision within internal and external forums.

πŸ”Ή Collaboration:

  • Work in close partnership with the Global Digital Health organization.

  • Lead interdisciplinary project teams to embed digital endpoints into R&D strategy.

  • Support transformation efforts across Merck's R&D pipeline.

πŸŽ“ Education & Languages:

  • PhD in a quantitative natural science, biomedical engineering, or medical domain with strong data analysis focus.

  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).

πŸ’Ό Professional Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, medtech, or related industries.

  • Demonstrated experience in digital biomarker/endpoint design and validation.

  • Experience working with digital health data from wearables, mobile devices, or similar platforms.

  • In-depth knowledge of psychometric/statistical validation, regulatory requirements for digital endpoints, and clinical applications.

  • Understanding of AI/ML, signal processing, and algorithm deployment in clinical settings.
