Overview

Apotex Inc., a globally recognized pharmaceutical company headquartered in Toronto, is seeking an experienced Assistant Manager – Legal to join its Legal Affairs team in Bangalore.

This role offers a strategic opportunity to provide end-to-end legal support across commercial, regulatory, and operational functions within a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment. The selected candidate will work closely with in-house counsel and business stakeholders to ensure legal compliance, mitigate risks, and support business growth across global operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive legal support across all business functions under the guidance of in-house legal leadership

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including confidentiality agreements, service agreements, procurement contracts, sales agreements, and pharmacovigilance agreements

  • Support legal aspects of business operations including HR, finance, procurement, compliance, and quality functions

  • Advise on regulatory matters related to pharmaceuticals, clinical trials, R&D, and public disclosure requirements

  • Identify legal risks and develop practical mitigation strategies aligned with business objectives

  • Assist in dispute resolution, including litigation, arbitration, and pre-litigation matters in coordination with external counsel

  • Support development and implementation of corporate policies, legal processes, and compliance frameworks

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance legal awareness and ensure regulatory adherence

  • Build strong stakeholder relationships through transparent and effective communication

  • Contribute to a culture of integrity, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent legal qualification (mandatory)

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong expertise in corporate and commercial law, preferably within a regulated industry such as pharmaceuticals or healthcare

  • Excellent analytical thinking and business acumen

  • Strong contract drafting, negotiation, and advisory skills

  • In-depth understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements

  • Effective communication skills with the ability to simplify complex legal concepts

  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management capabilities

  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional teams

  • Proactive problem-solving mindset with a solution-oriented approach

Experience Required

  • Minimum 5–6 years of experience as in-house legal counsel in a multinational organization and/or in a reputed law firm

  • Prior experience in pharmaceutical, life sciences, or other regulated sectors is highly preferred
