Overview
Apotex Inc., a globally recognized pharmaceutical company headquartered in Toronto, is seeking an experienced Assistant Manager – Legal to join its Legal Affairs team in Bangalore.
This role offers a strategic opportunity to provide end-to-end legal support across commercial, regulatory, and operational functions within a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment. The selected candidate will work closely with in-house counsel and business stakeholders to ensure legal compliance, mitigate risks, and support business growth across global operations.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive legal support across all business functions under the guidance of in-house legal leadership
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including confidentiality agreements, service agreements, procurement contracts, sales agreements, and pharmacovigilance agreements
Support legal aspects of business operations including HR, finance, procurement, compliance, and quality functions
Advise on regulatory matters related to pharmaceuticals, clinical trials, R&D, and public disclosure requirements
Identify legal risks and develop practical mitigation strategies aligned with business objectives
Assist in dispute resolution, including litigation, arbitration, and pre-litigation matters in coordination with external counsel
Support development and implementation of corporate policies, legal processes, and compliance frameworks
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance legal awareness and ensure regulatory adherence
Build strong stakeholder relationships through transparent and effective communication
Contribute to a culture of integrity, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Educational Qualifications
Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent legal qualification (mandatory)
Skills and Competencies
Strong expertise in corporate and commercial law, preferably within a regulated industry such as pharmaceuticals or healthcare
Excellent analytical thinking and business acumen
Strong contract drafting, negotiation, and advisory skills
In-depth understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements
Effective communication skills with the ability to simplify complex legal concepts
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management capabilities
High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
Ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional teams
Proactive problem-solving mindset with a solution-oriented approach
Experience Required
Minimum 5–6 years of experience as in-house legal counsel in a multinational organization and/or in a reputed law firm
Prior experience in pharmaceutical, life sciences, or other regulated sectors is highly preferred
