Job Summary

The Assistant Manager – HIM Services will play a key leadership role in managing daily coding operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and superior service delivery. This position requires strong technical knowledge of medical coding, team leadership competence, and the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the coding team to ensure high-quality and efficient day-to-day operations.

  • Oversee coding activities and ensure alignment with quality and customer service expectations.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all coding-related queries from clients and internal teams.

  • Review reports to identify issues, investigate discrepancies, and drive corrective actions per coding guidelines.

  • Manage multiple priorities, create solutions based on available information, and ensure timely execution.

  • Take complete ownership of team development, coaching, and performance management.

  • Prepare training manuals, documentation, and training kits for process improvement.

  • Generate month-end reports and manage client invoicing.

  • Analyze monthly collection trends and performance metrics for each client.

  • Prepare and submit annual appraisal evaluations based on KRAs for team members.


Required Qualifications & Expertise

  • Education: Life Science degree or equivalent with Anatomy/Physiology as major subjects.

  • Experience Level:

    • 8 to 10 years of overall medical coding experience.

    • Minimum 4 years of team-handling experience, managing teams of 30–40 members.

  • Certification: At least one coding certification such as CPC (AAPC).

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).

  • Proven leadership abilities with exceptional organizational skills.

  • Hands-on experience in generating analytical reports using MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work on a computer for 6–8 hours in an environment with frequent interruptions.

  • Occasional lifting of materials up to 20 lbs may be required.

  • Ability to manage stress during peak workloads and tight deadlines.
