Position Overview
The Vice President, Internal Medicine Regulatory Strategy serves as a senior global regulatory leader within Pfizer’s Global Regulatory Sciences (GRS) organization. This role provides strategic regulatory leadership across the Internal Medicine portfolio, including metabolic diseases, cardiovascular risk, diabetes, cachexia, and chronic weight management.
The Vice President ensures regulatory strategy excellence across product development and lifecycle management, enabling high-quality submissions, innovative pathways, product approvals with optimized labeling, and compliance across global markets. This position requires deep experience in regulatory strategy, drug development, and stakeholder engagement at the highest levels.
The ideal candidate has substantial experience in obesity and metabolic disease development, including GLP-1 therapeutics, and has led regulatory negotiations, influenced regulatory policy, and supported global commercialization strategies for an advanced metabolic disease pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Regulatory Direction
Provide expert regulatory leadership for all Internal Medicine programs across early and late-stage development.
Develop and implement global regulatory strategies that influence development plans and commercial decision-making.
Guide teams toward timely submissions, regulatory approvals, and optimal product labels through innovative regulatory pathways.
Maintain in-depth expertise on global regulations, evolving regulatory expectations, and competitor product landscapes.
Portfolio & Resource Management
Lead resource allocation for Global Regulatory Sciences (GRS) within the Internal Medicine portfolio.
Ensure high-quality regulatory deliverables across submissions, special projects, and lifecycle management activities.
Balance portfolio priorities through flexible and efficient resource deployment.
Regulatory Engagement & Policy Impact
Build strong relationships with global regulatory authorities (FDA, EMA, MHRA, MHLW).
Represent Pfizer in scientific, regulatory, and industry forums to influence policy development.
Communicate regulatory implications of emerging data and external changes to senior leadership and cross-functional partners.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Stakeholder Collaboration
Partner with R&D, Commercial, Legal, Finance, and PGS teams to align regulatory strategies with business objectives.
Serve as a key advisor to Internal Medicine R&D and commercial functions.
Ensure regulatory compliance for marketed products across the lifecycle, including product defense activities.
Team Development
Lead, develop, and mentor a team of approximately 15 regulatory professionals.
Foster a culture of innovation, agility, accountability, and continuous learning across GRS.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education
Advanced scientific degree required (M.D., Ph.D., or PharmD).
Experience
Minimum 10 years of experience in drug, device, or biologic development, regulatory affairs, or commercialization.
Preferred 20+ years of experience within the pharmaceutical industry, particularly in global regulatory strategy.
Proven subject-matter expertise in cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic disease (CVRM).
Demonstrated success in regulatory submissions and approvals for chronic weight management, obesity, or metabolic-related conditions.
Experience working with GLP-1 based therapies is strongly preferred.
Track record of successful negotiations with global health authorities.
Senior-level leadership experience in matrixed, global organizations.
Extensive experience managing complex regulatory issues and large, multidisciplinary teams.

Work Arrangement
Hybrid role; requires residence within commuting distance and on-site presence 2.5 days per week.
Compensation & Benefits
Annual Base Salary Range:
USD 280,400 – 467,400
