Position Overview:

The Trainee Research Associate - Synthesis will be part of the Synthesis team at Jubilant Biosys. The primary responsibility will involve the synthesis, purification, and characterization of chemical intermediates for drug discovery. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in organic chemistry and contribute to the advancement of chemistry projects in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Synthesis, Purification, and Characterization: Synthesize, purify, and characterize chemical intermediates, including small to large quantities of novel chemical entities for drug discovery.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with team members to drive chemistry projects forward, contributing to both individual and collective success.
  • Organic Chemistry Expertise: Apply knowledge of basic organic chemistry principles and reaction mechanisms to various synthesis tasks.
  • Knowledge of Reactions: Utilize knowledge of name reactions and functional group transformations to develop novel compounds.
  • Analytical Techniques: Gain hands-on experience with techniques such as thin-layer chromatography (TLC), column purification, extraction methods, NMR, IR, and mass spectrometry.
  • Safety Practices: Maintain strict adherence to laboratory safety practices and ensure the safe handling of chemicals and reagents.
  • Communication: Display effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and present research findings clearly.

Qualifications:

  • Education: M.Sc. in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, or related field. Alternatively, M. Pharma (specialized in Organic Synthesis).
  • Experience: 0-1 year of project experience, preferably with exposure to organic synthesis in a research or industrial setting.

Desired Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong foundational knowledge in organic chemistry, including reaction mechanisms and functional group transformations.
  • Practical experience with laboratory techniques such as TLC, column chromatography, NMR, IR, and mass spectrometry.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety practices and enthusiasm for research.
  • Good soft and scientific communication skills to interact with team members and present findings.
