Staff Pharmacist - Friday Harbor Drug

Key Responsibilities

  • Pharmacy Operations: Oversee all pharmacy operations, including managing staff, workflow, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, DEA regulations, and Washington State Pharmacy Board requirements.
  • Medication Dispensing: Oversee the accurate dispensing of medications, including prescription review, verification, and patient consultations.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain inventory levels, order medications, manage waste, and track expired medications.
  • Quality Control: Implement and maintain quality assurance programs to ensure safe and effective pharmacy practices.
  • Patient Counseling: Provide comprehensive counseling to patients regarding medication use, drug interactions, and side effects.
  • Staff Supervision and Training: Lead, mentor, and ensure proper training of pharmacy staff.
  • Collaboration with Healthcare Providers: Work with physicians and healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
  • Financial Management: Manage the pharmacy’s budget, including billing, reimbursement, and cost-effective practices.
  • Safe Pharmacy Practices: Ensure protocols for controlled substances management and patient safety initiatives are in place.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PharmD Degree: Graduation from an accredited pharmacy school.
  • State License: Active and unrestricted Washington State pharmacist license or eligibility to obtain one before start date.
  • Immunization Certification: Certified to administer vaccines as required by Washington state law.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience as a pharmacist, with 1-2 years in a management or leadership role.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff, and healthcare providers.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to manage operational issues and workflow efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pharmacist-in-Charge Experience: Prior experience managing a pharmacy location.
  • Knowledge of Pharmacy Financials: Experience with inventory control, financial management, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Community-Based Practice: Familiarity with pharmacy practice in rural or underserved areas.
