Role Overview

The Senior Therapeutic Specialist – HCV/PBC represents Gilead’s products within a defined geographic territory, focusing on the Sacramento and Reno areas. This role is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with healthcare providers, promoting clinical awareness, and driving sales performance. The position combines scientific expertise, strategic business planning, and field-based execution to deliver impactful results in a competitive pharmaceutical environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a scientific and therapeutic expert in HCV/PBC, providing healthcare professionals with accurate and relevant clinical information.

  • Promote Gilead products in compliance with Corporate, PhRMA, OIG guidelines, and federal regulations.

  • Develop and execute territory business plans, monitor progress, and implement strategies to achieve or exceed sales targets.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare providers, medical centers, and key accounts within the territory.

  • Partner with Medical Scientists, National Account Managers, Marketing, and other internal stakeholders to coordinate initiatives.

  • Identify opportunities and challenges in the territory, proactively communicating insights to management.

  • Support product launches, promotional campaigns, and educational events for healthcare professionals.

  • Maintain accurate records of all field activities, sales reports, and customer interactions in Gilead systems.

  • Participate in local and regional team meetings, providing updates and contributing to strategic discussions.


Required Qualifications

  • Education & Experience:

    • High School Diploma + 11 years of experience OR

    • Associate Degree + 9 years of experience OR

    • Bachelor’s Degree + 7 years of experience OR

    • Master’s Degree + 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical/healthcare sales or related field

  • Ability to travel within the assigned territory as needed.

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to perform onsite visits with healthcare practitioners.

  • Demonstrated ability to meet sales objectives and work independently.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree (BA/BS) in life sciences, business, or healthcare-related field.

  • Minimum of 4 years of pharmaceutical or specialty healthcare sales experience.

  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets in competitive markets.

  • Previous experience in product launches or therapeutic specialty markets.

  • Strong influencing, relationship-building, and presentation skills.

  • Knowledge of HCV/PBC disease states, treatment guidelines, and competitive landscape.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $133,195 – $172,370 (varies by experience, qualifications, and geography)
