Role Overview:
We are seeking a Sr. Scientist – Protein Expression to join the Discovery Technology and Platforms team. This entry-level opportunity is ideal for freshers with strong academic training in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related fields. The role involves hands-on work in protein expression, construct design, and biomass generation to support protein production and structural biology workflows. The candidate will gain experience in prokaryotic and eukaryotic expression systems and contribute to the development of scalable, reproducible molecular biology platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Support molecular biology workflows (>80% bench time), including cloning, DNA preparation, small-scale screening, expression optimization, and large-scale fermentation.
Design and produce drug discovery targets and research reagents using bacterial, insect, and mammalian expression systems.
Develop and implement high-throughput molecular biology strategies to enhance efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
Collaborate with structural biologists, biophysicists, and protein biochemists to address project needs.
Drive improvements in data capture, traceability, and quality control through integration with informatics platforms.
Maintain high standards of data integrity, reproducibility, and documentation across workflows.
Contribute to team mentoring, fostering a culture of scientific excellence and continuous improvement.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Synthetic Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
Fresher candidates with strong academic knowledge and laboratory research experience are encouraged to apply.
Familiarity with protein expression systems and basic protein purification methods.
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and willingness to learn quickly.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of protein characterization and functional assays.
Experience with high-throughput screening and expression optimization.
Familiarity with laboratory informatics systems such as LIMS or Benchling.
Strong collaboration, communication, and presentation skills.
