Position Summary

As a Senior Programmer Analyst, you will act as a subject matter expert in the configuration, maintenance, and support of the Oracle Argus Pharmacovigilance (PV) Safety database. This role involves system administration, report generation, technical support, and data migration, ensuring all activities comply with SOPs, policies, regulatory standards, and client expectations.


Key Responsibilities

System Support & Configuration

  • Administer and configure Oracle Argus Safety database.

  • Perform day-to-day maintenance and updates as per business requirements.

  • Create new tenants and distribution rule configurations.

  • Support system upgrades, change controls, and routine dictionary updates.

Data Reporting & Analysis

  • Generate custom and ad-hoc safety reports using built-in tools, OBIEE, and SQL.

  • Develop and validate aggregate safety reports.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve safety database issues and user queries.

Collaboration & Vendor Management

  • Liaise with PV business users to understand needs and propose solutions.

  • Interface with Argus vendor on upgrades, enhancements, and ongoing issues.

  • Assist in SOP development and support internal/external audits.

Data Migration & Validation

  • Lead safety data migration projects:

    • Create migration plans, design specs, and summary reports.

    • Validate that data activities meet quality and compliance standards.

Project & Process Management

  • Lead and support technical project initiatives from inception to delivery.

  • Provide programming support to project teams for safety data and ad-hoc analyses.

  • Recommend and implement process improvements.

  • Estimate project efforts and assist with proposals and budgeting.


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in pharmacovigilance or clinical data programming.


Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong experience with Oracle Argus Safety system administration and configuration.

  • Deep understanding of:

    • Safety system architecture

    • Mapping and transformation rules

    • Relational database structures

  • Advanced SQL programming skills.

  • Experience with OBIEE or similar reporting tools.

  • Proficiency in data migration and validation activities.

  • Experience with one or more programming languages.
