Job Summary

Cognizant is seeking a skilled Medical Coding professional to join the healthcare domain team. The role focuses on ensuring accurate medical coding, regulatory compliance, and process excellence in healthcare operations. The selected candidate will support quality improvement initiatives, maintain coding accuracy, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a hybrid work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Perform accurate medical coding for healthcare products in compliance with industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate diagnosis, procedure, and service codes.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to validate coding accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
Maintain updated knowledge of coding guidelines, healthcare regulations, and industry best practices.
Prepare detailed documentation and coding activity reports to support business and compliance objectives.
Assist in developing and implementing coding policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency.
Ensure data integrity, consistency, and accuracy throughout coding processes.
Participate in internal audits and quality assurance checks to identify and correct coding errors.
Support process improvement initiatives to optimize coding workflows and enhance productivity.
Provide coding expertise, guidance, and training support to team members when required.
Align coding practices with healthcare product specifications and organizational standards.
Coordinate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders for seamless coding process integration.
Adhere to organizational policies, confidentiality standards, and ethical practices.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in medical coding within the healthcare industry.
Strong understanding of medical coding standards, healthcare compliance requirements, and documentation review.
Proficiency in assigning accurate diagnosis and procedure codes.
Expertise in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for interpreting complex medical documentation.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
High attention to detail with a strong focus on coding accuracy and compliance.
Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work environment with day-shift availability.
Proactive learning mindset with the ability to stay current on coding regulations and industry updates.

Preferred Skills
