Senior Statistical Programmer I – Remote (India) | ICON plc

Job Summary

ICON plc, a global leader in clinical research and healthcare intelligence, is hiring a Senior Statistical Programmer I to join its Biometrics team. This is a remote opportunity based in India, ideal for professionals experienced in R programming, SQL, R Shiny, and oncology-specific data analytics. If you’re passionate about leveraging real-world data (RWD) to impact cancer research and clinical outcomes, this role offers a high-impact, flexible work environment in a leading CRO.


Key Responsibilities

  • Apply strong statistical programming and domain knowledge in clinical oncology projects.

  • Develop visualizations for oncology analyses using R Shiny.

  • Support claims and oncology databases including Optum, Marketscan, Flatiron, COTA.

  • Perform survival analyses and build tumor-specific Line of Therapy (LoT) algorithms.

  • Ensure adherence to CDISC guidelines and evolving industry standards.

  • Collaborate on creation and validation of real-world evidence datasets and analytic cohorts.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in R and SQL programming for data manipulation and analysis.

  • Experience with R Shiny for interactive oncology visualizations.

  • Familiarity with oncology datasets (e.g., Flatiron, COTA, Marketscan).

  • Experience with Line of Therapy algorithms, survival analysis, and statistical modeling.

  • Understanding of CDISC standards, RW code list creation, and clinical coding systems.

  • Knowledge of analytic datasets and patient cohort construction is preferred.

  • Prior experience in a regulated clinical trial or real-world data environment.
