Role Overview
As a Senior Statistical Programmer, you will play a pivotal role in developing innovative programming tools and automation solutions that drive real-world data (RWD) analytics. You will collaborate across teams to identify improvement opportunities, design and deliver scalable solutions, and integrate AI-driven capabilities to advance data science efficiency within CfOR.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain programming tools and solutions to enhance efficiency, quality, and scalability across CfOR’s programming ecosystem.
Contribute to the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) — including requirements gathering, design, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
Collaborate with programming teams to identify process gaps and prototype scalable, modernized solutions.
Support federated innovation by integrating cross-team code contributions into unified CfOR solutions.
Automate repetitive programming tasks and establish modular, reusable code standards.
Leverage AI and machine learning tools (e.g., copilots, AI agents) to optimize programming workflows.
Develop and maintain version-controlled documentation, user guides, and training materials for new tools.
Participate in ongoing tool evaluation, enhancement, and performance optimization.
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure innovations align with business objectives and technical standards.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.
Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in statistical programming, data engineering, or software development in a life sciences or research setting.
Proficiency in SAS and/or R, with additional experience in SQL and Python.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or related field.
Experience in structured software development lifecycle (SDLC) projects.
Hands-on experience with real-world healthcare data (RWD) sources such as:
Healthcare claims (MarketScan, Optum Clinformatics, Medicare)
Electronic Health Records (EHR) databases (OptumEHR PanTher, Flatiron, CPRD, MDV)
Familiarity with data model frameworks (e.g., CDISC).
Proficiency in version control systems (Git) and collaborative coding practices.
Experience with AI and ML frameworks (OpenAI API, custom model training, copilots).
Knowledge of Agile methodologies and collaborative software environments.
