About the Role

Pfizer is seeking a highly skilled Senior Statistical Data Scientist to join its Research & Development team in Chennai. This is an individual contributor role responsible for delivering complex statistical programming outputs that support study teams, portfolios, and data standards across the organization. The position requires hands-on programming expertise, collaboration across global teams, and adherence to Pfizer’s quality and compliance standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on programming activities to support statistical deliverables for studies, projects, portfolios, and standards teams.

  • Execute and manage medium to high complexity statistical programming tasks independently, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance.

  • Collaborate effectively with study teams, clinicians, statisticians, and other cross-functional stakeholders across time zones.

  • Ensure all programming tasks adhere to Pfizer’s quality standards, timelines, and compliance requirements.

  • Take ownership of standards/study programming activities and coordinate across internal and external stakeholders as needed.

  • Contribute to Pfizer Statistical Data Science and Analysis (SDSA) initiatives at both local and global levels.

  • Continuously engage in self-learning and explore new tools, methods, and approaches in statistical programming and data standards.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Life Sciences, or related discipline.

  • Experience: Prior relevant experience in statistical programming or data science within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or clinical research industry.

  • Demonstrated experience in SAS, R, or Python programming and data analysis.

  • Understanding of clinical trial processes, CDISC standards, and statistical deliverables.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and documentation skills.


Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency in SAS, R, or Python for statistical programming.

  • Familiarity with clinical data structures (SDTM, ADaM) and reporting standards.

  • Attention to detail, quality focus, and a strong understanding of data integrity principles.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a global, matrixed team environment.

  • Commitment to continuous professional learning and development.
