Position Overview:

At Roche, we aim to advance science to provide more time for people with their loved ones. In 2020, Roche Diagnostics acquired Stratos Genomics, bringing their unique Sequencing by Expansion (SBX™) technology into our portfolio. As a Senior Scientist, you will engineer and synthesize molecular building blocks that support this novel technology, which significantly enhances the accuracy and throughput of nanopore sequencing.

You will play a key role in advancing our SBX technology and contributing to improved sequencing capabilities and patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Research & Experimentation: Design and execute innovative, well-controlled experiments with high attention to detail.
Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, mentor, and drive cross-functional teams towards achieving project goals.
Problem-Solving: Identify and troubleshoot problems with creative solutions.
Project Goals: Contribute to defining and achieving timely project objectives.
SOP Development: Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to aid in the production of reagents and starting materials.
Reagent Production: Participate in the production of reagents and starting materials.
Data Analysis: Perform data analysis and protocol development.
Laboratory Records: Maintain accurate, detailed, and reliable laboratory records.
Presentations: Present findings at group or departmental meetings.
Lab Maintenance: Ensure cleanliness and organization of the laboratory.
Process Improvement: Propose and develop improved processes to optimize the above functions.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Experience:
- Minimum of 6 years of laboratory experience in advanced nucleotide/heterocyclic chemistry, phosphorus chemistry, and/or complex multi-step organic synthesis.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Organic Synthesis, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related field, with at least 8 years of experience,
- OR Master’s degree in Organic Synthesis, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related field, with at least 7 years of experience,
- OR PhD in Organic Synthesis, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related field, with at least 4 years of experience.
