Role Overview

The Senior Scientist will play a key role within the Immunology team, providing advanced expertise in flow cytometry and immunology. This role supports research projects by guiding scientists on instrumentation, training users in data acquisition and analysis, and generating high-quality experimental data that informs portfolio decisions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert guidance on flow cytometry instrumentation, including spectral flow technology.

  • Lead user training, onboarding, and quality control for flow cytometry data.

  • Design flow cytometry panels in collaboration with project scientists.

  • Communicate core capabilities and deliver imaging and flow solutions tailored to project needs.

  • Collaborate across global Lilly research sites to share best practices and enhance capability alignment.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and perform in-house assessments when relevant.

  • Support research teams through data presentation, scientific discussions, and workflow improvements.


Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or related field with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in spectral flow cytometry and immunology,
    OR
    Master’s degree with at least 3 years of experience in the same areas.

  • Demonstrated expertise in immunology assays and spectral flow cytometry workflows.

  • Experience designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting multi-parameter flow cytometry panels.

  • Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in cross-functional scientific teams.

  • Prior exposure to imaging flow cytometers, high-content imagers, confocal microscopes, or fluorescence-based imaging tools (preferred).

  • Strong scientific communication skills for presenting data in team meetings.

  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time-management abilities.


Preferred Skills

  • Experience with imaging flow cytometers and advanced imaging platforms.

  • Familiarity with high-content imaging, confocal microscopy, and fluorescent slide scanning.

  • Strong initiative, self-management, and ability to prioritize multiple complex projects.

  • Effective communication and collaboration capabilities across multidisciplinary teams.

  • Strong scientific problem-solving abilities and critical thinking.


Additional Information

  • Work Authorization: Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

  • Travel Requirement: 5–10%.
