Role Overview:
The Senior Scientist – Assay Development & Intestinal In Vitro Models will contribute to target discovery and validation for inflammatory diseases by designing and executing advanced in vitro assays. The role leverages human cell models, cutting-edge -omics approaches, and cellular assays to drive innovative therapeutic research. The successful candidate will collaborate across cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, reproducible research outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and execute biological assays and intestinal in vitro models to explore and validate novel drug targets.

  • Conduct mechanism-of-action studies using molecular biology, cell signaling, immunology, and cellular biology techniques.

  • Engineer human cell models (e.g., CRISPR) for functional screening and mechanistic studies.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, analyze data, document experiments, and communicate results effectively.

  • Mentor and train junior scientists, fostering knowledge sharing and laboratory excellence.

  • Stay updated with scientific literature and advancements, contribute to publications, and present findings at conferences.

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • B.S./M.S. in Biological or Biomedical Sciences with 7+ years of hands-on experience; Ph.D. graduates (<2 years) will also be considered.

  • Proven experience in in vitro cell-based assays using cell lines, primary cells, stem cells/iPSCs. Experience with intestinal organoids, spheroids, barrier models, and co-cultures preferred.

  • Strong expertise in molecular biology, cell signaling, and immunology, preferably in inflammatory disease research.

  • Proficiency in experimental design, troubleshooting, data analysis, and statistical/bioinformatics tools.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced research environment.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with inflammation research, particularly Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) therapeutic discovery.

  • Functional studies using primary human or rodent cells and ex vivo tissue assays.

  • Familiarity with advanced omics technologies (e.g., spatial transcriptomics, single-cell RNA-seq) and computational biology or machine learning approaches.

  • Demonstrated track record of scientific publications and conference presentations.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Senior Scientist I: $85,400 – $158,600 per year

  • Senior Scientist II: $93,800 – $174,200 per year
