Role Summary

The Senior Scientific Writer I is responsible for preparing high-quality medical and scientific communications, including literature reviews, abstracts, posters, slide decks, and manuscripts for publication or presentation. The role involves handling multiple scientific writing projects, supporting internal medical teams, and ensuring compliance with documentation standards and regulatory timelines.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop literature reviews, abstracts, posters, manuscripts, and slide sets using sources such as clinical study reports and patient profiles.

  • Prepare publications aligned with regulatory and journal requirements to support clinical trial transparency and increase scientific visibility.

  • Perform quality control (QC), proofreading, and document checks to ensure accuracy and adherence to expectations.

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting timelines and quality standards.

  • Collect and apply feedback from internal stakeholders and external customers.

  • Comply with Novartis documentation standards, including templates, Novstyle, and internal project management tools.

  • Track clinical trial milestones to ensure timely delivery of assigned writing tasks.

  • Maintain proper documentation, archiving, and audit readiness for all assigned projects.

  • Ensure adherence to SOPs, training requirements, and compliance expectations.

  • Support additional assigned tasks as required by the medical writing function.


Minimum Requirements

  • Education:

    • Degree in a healthcare or life sciences discipline.

    • Preferred: Advanced degree such as PhD, PharmD, or MD.

  • Experience:

    • 3–5 years of professional scientific writing experience, preferably within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industry.

    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a matrixed, multicultural, and cross-functional environment.

  • Skills Required:

    • Strong scientific writing and communication skills.

    • Ability to interpret clinical data and structure scientific content clearly.

    • Customer-oriented mindset with a focus on effective collaboration.

    • Familiarity with medical publication processes and clinical development.
