Job Title: Senior Research Associate - Synthesis
Location: Hyderabad, India
Department: Chemistry Solutions

Scope:
This role is responsible for executing chemical reactions to synthesize required quantities of molecules/compounds as per client specifications, using efficient synthetic routes and techniques.

Responsibilities:

  • Synthesis & Reactions:

    • Set up and execute reactions to synthesize target molecules/compounds based on client specifications.
    • Understand and discuss the synthetic route with the team and client.
    • Review and discuss the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) with team members to ensure safety.
    • Identify and mitigate any potential safety risks with the help of the supervisor.
    • Plan and execute reactions using appropriate reagents and equipment (e.g., glassware, stirrers, vacuum pumps) while maintaining specified conditions (temperature, pressure).
    • Ensure parallel execution of multiple reactions and monitor their progress using analytical techniques.
    • Use appropriate workup and purification techniques to produce intermediary/final compounds of desired quality.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting:

    • Analyze and interpret results from the synthesis process.
    • Meet productivity benchmarks, including the number of reactions, steps, compounds, and quality/purity levels.
    • Prepare reports on the progress and outcomes of synthesis.
  • Safety & Compliance:

    • Follow safety and quality systems in the lab.
    • Maintain equipment and instruments as per SOPs and ensure general housekeeping.
  • IP & Data Integrity:

    • Accurately document reactions, research findings, and observations in lab notebooks according to client requirements.
    • Maintain strict IP confidentiality and adhere to relevant policies.
  • Team Development & Skill Enhancement:

    • Continuously improve knowledge of organic chemistry (especially synthesis) and analytical techniques through discussions with supervisors and training.
    • Guide and mentor junior team members to meet productivity and quality targets.

Functional/Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of chemistry, synthesis, and execution techniques.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols, IP confidentiality, and data integrity.
  • Ability to conduct cost-benefit analysis and optimize resource usage.

Required Educational Qualifications & Experience:

  • MSc (Organic/Medicinal Chemistry) with 1-5 years of relevant experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Candidates with research publications in leading journals will be preferred.
