About the Role

athenahealth is seeking a Senior Quality Analyst to drive quality assurance, denial analysis, process improvement, and operational excellence across Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) processes. The role focuses on improving quality outcomes, reducing rework, identifying root causes, and ensuring process compliance across Accounts Receivable (AR) and Denial Management workflows.

The ideal candidate will possess strong healthcare RCM expertise, quality auditing experience, analytical skills, and the ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Audits & Compliance

  • Conduct end-to-end quality audits across AR calling and denial management workflows.

  • Ensure adherence to SOPs, quality standards, and operational guidelines.

  • Maintain audit documentation, traceability, and compliance records.

  • Lead quality calibration sessions to ensure consistency in quality evaluations.

Denial Management & Root Cause Analysis

  • Analyze denial trends and recurring quality defects.

  • Identify root causes related to:

    • Process Issues

    • User Errors

    • System Gaps

  • Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to reduce recurring errors and rework.

  • Perform detailed investigations on escalations and high-impact quality issues.

Quality Metrics & Performance Monitoring

  • Establish and monitor quality performance metrics including:

    • Accuracy Rate

    • Defect Rate

    • Rework Percentage

    • First Pass Yield

  • Track quality trends and recommend improvement strategies.

  • Generate quality reports and communicate findings to stakeholders.

Process Improvement

  • Support workflow optimization and SOP enhancement initiatives.

  • Collaborate with Operations and BPO teams to improve process adherence.

  • Drive initiatives focused on improving accuracy, productivity, and operational efficiency.

  • Utilize audit findings and field feedback to recommend process enhancements.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with Operations, Product Teams, and BPO partners to address quality gaps.

  • Participate in governance meetings and quality reviews.

  • Present quality trends, insights, and action plans to stakeholders.

  • Support cross-functional improvement initiatives.

Training & Knowledge Management

  • Coach and guide teams on quality expectations and best practices.

  • Contribute to training materials, job aids, and knowledge management resources.

  • Support awareness programs focused on quality improvement and error prevention.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in:

    • Life Sciences

    • Pharmacy

    • Healthcare Administration

    • Business Administration

    • Related Discipline

Experience

  • 4–6 years of experience in:

    • Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management (RCM)

    • Quality Assurance

    • Denial Management

    • Healthcare Operations

    • Process Improvement

  • Strong experience reviewing denial reasons and resolution workflows.

  • Proven experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing quality improvements.
