The selected candidate will lead multiple scientific teams focused on process research, chemical development, and scalable API process innovation, ensuring timely execution of complex pharmaceutical development programs.

Key Responsibilities

Scientific Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and manage a team of process development scientists across multiple pharmaceutical development programs
  • Drive scientific execution aligned with project goals, timelines, and organizational objectives
  • Provide strategic leadership for scientific teams handling complex chemical development challenges
  • Build a high-performance scientific culture focused on innovation, execution excellence, and collaboration

Process Chemistry Development

  • Lead process chemistry research for new chemical entities (NCEs) and development candidates
  • Drive development of scalable, robust, and efficient synthetic routes for pharmaceutical compounds
  • Support chemical process optimization for preclinical and clinical-stage molecules
  • Apply advanced expertise in modern and classical organic chemistry to solve complex development challenges

API Process Development & Scale-Up

  • Lead process development and scale-up technologies for:
    • Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs)
    • Clinical development molecules
    • Preclinical compounds
    • Commercial process optimization programs
  • Support transition from laboratory development to scalable manufacturing processes
  • Improve process efficiency, yield, reproducibility, and manufacturability

Strategic R&D Execution

  • Partner with senior research leadership to support execution of scientific strategy
  • Align technical development programs with broader organizational R&D priorities
  • Drive scientific decision-making through data-driven project evaluation
  • Support innovation initiatives across process chemistry and chemical development

Project Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Provide leadership across multiple project groups within process chemistry
  • Communicate scientific progress, risks, technical findings, and strategic recommendations to:
    • Senior management
    • Internal stakeholders
    • Cross-functional scientific teams
    • Project leadership groups

Ensure high professional standards in scientific communication and execution.

Technical Problem Solving

  • Analyze complex chemistry problems and proactively develop practical scientific solutions
  • Provide advanced technical guidance to scientific teams
  • Drive troubleshooting across synthesis, scale-up, and development activities
  • Strengthen technical decision-making across projects

Resource & Portfolio Management

  • Allocate scientific resources based on project priorities and strategic business objectives
  • Optimize team utilization, technical productivity, and project execution capacity

  • Mentor experienced scientists and emerging technical leaders

Required Qualifications

Educational Qualifications
Candidates must hold:

  • PhD in Organic Chemistry
    Preferred:
  • Postdoctoral research experience
