Job Summary:
The Senior Medical Writer role combines scientific expertise with creative writing to develop high-quality medical, scientific, and educational content. This position provides a unique opportunity to grow your career while making a significant impact in the life sciences industry. You will collaborate with clients to produce accurate, compelling scientific materials that meet their needs and help them effectively communicate complex data.
Responsibilities:
Scientific Content Development:
Write, review, proofread, and data-check high-quality scientific, medical, and educational materials, including slides, abstracts, manuscripts, congress materials, MSL/training slide decks, and patient engagement content.
Ensure strategic alignment and scientific accuracy while providing clear, constructive feedback to scientific writers.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
Build and maintain long-term relationships with international pharmaceutical clients, healthcare professionals, KOLs, and authors.
Advise clients on strategic and tactical plans to enhance scientific content and recommend effective dissemination methods.
Mentorship and Team Support:
Mentor and train junior scientific writers, contributing to their skill development by sharing best practices and client preferences.
Innovative Medical Communications:
Develop creative solutions for medical writing projects, including digital content like infographics, interactive assets, and medical information engagement plans.
Support visual content development using effective data visualization techniques.
Compliance and Quality Control:
Ensure all materials comply with client requirements, SOPs, style guides, and CACTUS’ internal guidelines.
Maintain awareness of updates to client preferences and ensure documents are consistently up to date.
Scientific Contribution:
Contribute intellectual input across document types, making cutting-edge research accessible to specific audiences.
Stay current with developments across therapeutic areas to support content creation.
Pitch Support:
Assist in the preparation of pitches and actively participate in client meetings and external events.
Qualifications:
Experience:
3-5 years of experience in scientific writing within medical communications.
Educational Background:
PhD/MD (Pharmacology), PhD (Life Sciences), PharmD, M.Pharm/M.Sc with a solid understanding of clinical research and medical communication.
Skills:
Clear, concise scientific writing style with attention to detail.
Ability to adapt writing for different materials and target audiences.
Basic knowledge of biostatistics and literature review capabilities.
Proficiency in MS Office.
