Job Summary:
As a Senior Medical Writer, you will combine your understanding of medical science with writing expertise to produce high-quality scientific, medical, and educational materials. This role involves mentoring junior writers, maintaining strong client relationships, and creating engaging content for diverse healthcare audiences. You will have the opportunity to contribute to innovative medical communication projects, including digital assets, infographics, and publication extenders.
Responsibilities:
Content Development:
Write, review, proofread, and data-check scientific, medical, and educational materials, including manuscripts, abstracts, posters, slide decks, infographics, and medical information letters.
Ensure all materials meet client requirements, style guides, and internal SOPs.
Provide intellectual input across document types and contribute to making cutting-edge research accessible to specific audiences.
Client Interaction and Relationship Building:
Build and maintain long-term relationships with international pharmaceutical clients, healthcare professionals, KOLs, and authors.
Advise clients on strategic and tactical plans and recommend improvements to scientific content and data dissemination.
Team Leadership and Mentorship:
Review and provide constructive feedback on materials developed by junior scientific writers.
Mentor and train writers, share best practices, and contribute to team skill development.
Support writers in ensuring scientific accuracy and alignment with client needs.
Digital Communication Initiatives:
Work closely with client directors to develop medical communication initiatives in the digital space, including websites, patient narratives, and interactive assets.
Contribute to the creation of innovative solutions for medical writing projects.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
Ensure that all materials follow client requirements, SOPs, style guides, and CACTUS’ internal policies.
Stay updated on developments in therapeutic areas and evaluate relevant literature for project content.
Additional Responsibilities:
Attend client meetings and external seminars/workshops.
Participate in pitches and assist in preparing materials for new business opportunities.
Qualifications:
Education:
PhD/MD (Pharmacology) OR PhD (Life Sciences) OR PharmD OR MPharm/M.Sc with an understanding of clinical research and medical communication.
Experience:
3-5 years of experience in scientific writing or related fields.
Skills:
Strong scientific writing skills with high attention to detail and excellent language proficiency.
Ability to adapt writing style for various materials and audiences.
Basic knowledge of biostatistics and literature review.
Proficiency in MS Office.
Working Environment:
