Job Summary

The Senior Medical Director – Psychiatrist provides medical oversight for assigned clinical studies, ensuring subject safety and scientific integrity. The role includes therapeutic area consultation, mentoring staff, and leadership of medical monitoring efforts.


Key Responsibilities

Medical Oversight & Study Management

  • Serve as primary medical contact for assigned clinical studies

  • Provide medical input for Drug Safety and Pharmacovigilance activities

  • Design and review study protocols and amendments

  • Provide input during Study Start-Up, Feasibility, and Subject Identification

  • Review Informed Consent Templates and Subject-Facing Materials

Data & Safety Monitoring

  • Provide input on data collection tools, monitoring plans, and analysis plans

  • Review clinical data for trends, risks, and safety issues

  • Develop mitigation strategies to minimize risks to subjects or study integrity

  • Provide after-hours coverage as needed

Training & Mentoring

  • Deliver project-specific and therapeutic training to internal teams and clinical sites

  • Mentor staff on treatment principles and research best practices

Regulatory & Compliance

  • Maintain knowledge of FDA, international regulations, and ICH GCP guidelines

  • Lead medical responses to RFPs, BDMs, and RFIs

  • Support development of clinical development plans and regulatory submissions

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Represent Syneos Health at scientific/industry meetings

  • Supervise and mentor Medical Scientists and Medical Directors

  • Perform line management duties as needed


Qualifications

  • Medical degree (MD/DO) with specialization in Psychiatry

  • Extensive experience in clinical study oversight and pharmacovigilance

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory and GCP guidelines

  • Leadership, mentoring, and communication skills

  • Experience in protocol design, study start-up, and medical monitoring
