Senior Epidemiologist – Foster City, CA (On-site, Contract)

Job Summary

A global pharmaceutical leader is seeking a highly experienced Senior Epidemiologist for a 6-month contract role based in Foster City, CA. This position will focus on HIV observational research using Real-World Evidence (RWE) and Real-World Data (RWD) methodologies. The ideal candidate brings 7–10+ years of industry experience and deep expertise in virology-based epidemiology. This is a strategic role contributing to protocol development, data analysis planning, and reporting across observational study lifecycles.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct feasibility analyses for epidemiological studies.

  • Design and plan observational studies, including drafting of protocol synopses and concepts.

  • Define study criteria including data sources, methodologies, and statistical plans.

  • Draft and review study protocols, SAPs, and final study reports.

  • Execute both primary data collection and secondary data use studies.

  • Review and ensure accuracy of analytical outputs, including ad hoc analyses and publication support.

  • Collaborate with scientific stakeholders, vendors, and study teams to meet milestones.

  • Participate in study planning and strategy meetings.

  • Troubleshoot operational issues and adjust priorities for timely delivery.

  • Ensure all deliverables meet scientific and data quality standards.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Epidemiology (Master’s or PhD).

  • 7–10+ years of industry experience as an epidemiologist.

  • Expertise in Virology RWE/RWD research; HIV-focused experience preferred.

  • Strong command over observational study design, data analytics, and statistical interpretation.

  • Proven ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and manage study deliverables.

  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
