Job Overview
Guidehouse is seeking a skilled Senior Coder specializing in Facility Surgery Coding to join our coding operations team in India. This role involves analyzing patient information, accurately assigning medical codes, and ensuring compliance with coding and billing regulations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding, as well as familiarity with reimbursement systems and federal, state, and payor-specific regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze clinical documentation and convert patient information into accurate medical codes.

  • Ensure coding accuracy to minimize billing denials and compliance issues.

  • Validate documentation to support Same Day Surgery codes based on medical decision-making or time.

  • Maintain current coding knowledge, certifications, and adhere to coding best practices.

  • Apply knowledge of NCCI edits, CMS guidelines, and coding policies to ensure compliance.

  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to resolve coding discrepancies and improve processes.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant coding experience, specifically in Facility Surgery or Same Day Surgery.

  • Mandatory coding certifications: CPC, CCS, COC.

  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS Level II coding principles.

  • Familiarity with reimbursement systems and regulatory requirements.

  • Excellent analytical, detail-oriented, and communication skills.

  • Proficient typing and documentation skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with coding software/encoder tools such as 3M, Trucode, or Optum.

  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.

  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like EPIC or Cerner.

  • Knowledge of multiple coding specialties, including E&M, IP/OP.
