Senior Clinical Programmer – Syneos Health

This role focuses on developing advanced Python-based solutions for clinical data review, dashboards, and analytics, while collaborating with global cross-functional teams to support clinical trials. The expected salary for Senior Clinical Programmers in India generally ranges from INR 12–20 LPA, depending on expertise in Python, clinical data, and industry experience.

Job Summary:
The Senior Clinical Programmer will design, develop, and maintain robust programming solutions to support clinical trial data review and reporting. The role requires strong Python expertise, basic SAS knowledge, and the ability to build dashboards, listings, and visual analytics for clinical data. The ideal candidate will have experience working with pharmaceutical, CRO, or healthcare data environments and be passionate about driving automation and efficiency in clinical programming.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain Python scripts for clinical data review and analytics.

  • Translate complex SAS programs and datasets into Python-based solutions.

  • Build advanced data review listings, dashboards, and visualization tools (Spotfire/pandas/matplotlib).

  • Collaborate with SAS programmers, data managers, medical reviewers, and clinical leads.

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to data management teams and internal stakeholders.

  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations.

  • Contribute to process design, implementation, and execution of programming standards.

  • Develop and maintain documentation for database design, programming standards, and SOPs.

  • Troubleshoot programming issues, ensuring accuracy and compliance with clinical standards.

  • Participate in cross-functional project meetings and provide input on technical aspects of programming.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of Python programming experience (pandas, NumPy, OpenPyxl).

  • Basic SAS knowledge (dataset handling, PROC steps).

  • Strong skills in data review, dashboard development, and automation.

  • Solid understanding of database design and data handling.

  • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

  • Willingness to learn clinical data standards (SDTM, CRFs, clinical trial lifecycle).

  • Experience providing technical expertise and mentoring team members.

  • Preferred: Spotfire or Power BI, experience in CRO/pharma, and knowledge of data review tools.
