Role Overview
The Senior Clinical Programmer (Python) develops and maintains programming solutions for clinical data review, dashboards, and analytics. This role interprets complex SAS programs, translates them into Python-based solutions, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity, compliance, and timely delivery of outputs.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and validate Python scripts for clinical data review, dashboards, and listings using libraries such as pandas, NumPy, OpenPyxl, matplotlib.
Translate SAS logic and datasets (.sas7bdat) into Python solutions for enhanced data analysis and visualization.
Build complex data review listings, dashboards, and visual analytics, ensuring accurate and actionable outputs.
Collaborate with SAS programmers, data managers, clinical leads, Safety, and Medical reviewers to ensure deliverables meet study requirements.
Provide technical expertise and guidance to internal teams and clients on best practices, troubleshooting, and programming strategies.
Contribute to the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of processes, policies, and automation frameworks.
Ensure proper documentation for database design, programming scripts, standard operating procedures, and technical manuals.
Support cross-functional compliance, attend project meetings, and assist with audits as needed.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
5+ years of Python programming experience in a clinical, pharma, or healthcare data environment.
Basic SAS knowledge to read datasets and understand PROC steps.
Experience developing data review listings, dashboards, and visual analytics.
Strong understanding of database design, clinical data standards, and data management practices.
Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to work independently, and strong cross-functional collaboration.
Proficient in MS Office and data visualization tools.
Knowledge of clinical trial data (SDTM, CRFs) and exposure to CRO/pharma operations is a plus.
Experience with Spotfire or Power BI is preferred.
