Position Summary

As a Senior Clinical Device Specialist, you will play a vital role in managing cardiac device workflows, ensuring compliance, and supporting patient care. This position involves developing and maintaining processes for device interrogation, billing, and patient management, as well as coordinating advisories, managing device schedules, and liaising with electrophysiology providers and device representatives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Workflow Development:

    • Create and refine workflows for device interrogation, billing, heart failure management, and patient monitoring.
    • Establish efficient processes for remote device follow-up and communication.
  • Patient Management:

    • Coordinate advisories for devices and leads, including provider guidance and patient communication.
    • Handle large-scale patient billing, compliance management, and training support.
    • Make patient calls for follow-up and monitoring.
  • Device and Clinic Operations:

    • Maintain device schedules, considering team availability and clinic needs.
    • Troubleshoot offline monitors (approximately 250 weekly).
    • Act as a system administrator for remote device monitoring systems.
  • Training and Education:

    • Develop user-friendly training resources and plans for staff.
    • Organize in-services and continuous learning tools for team development.
  • Administrative Support:

    • Serve as a liaison between providers, device representatives, and clinics.
    • Ensure compliance with documentation and standards of care.
    • Support outreach clinics and manage transmission intervals.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Preferred:
    • Bachelor’s degree in science or biomedical engineering from an accredited institution.
    • Completion of a cardiac device education program.
  • Minimum:
    • Certification in medical assisting or a related medical field.

Experience:

  • Two years of experience as a cardiology technician or equivalent role.
  • Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and remote monitoring of defibrillators and pacemakers.
  • Expertise in programmers from St. Jude, Boston-Scientific, and Medtronic.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Preferred:
    • Certification in Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation, Medical Assisting, or a nursing license.
    • ACLS certification.
  • Minimum:
    • Current BLS certification (required).
