About the Role:
Medtronic is seeking a Senior Chemist to join its team in Galway, Ireland. This role supports both commercial and project-based analytical testing in alignment with cGMP practices, with significant involvement in method development, validation, and technical reporting.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform analytical testing on drugs and drug-combination products using:

    • Liquid/Gas Chromatography

    • Elution

    • Spectroscopic techniques

    • Wet Chemistry techniques

  • Conduct test method development and validation

  • Ensure accurate result reporting, trend analysis, and technical report generation

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with departments including Quality, Supply Chain, Operations, and Engineering

  • Provide technical support for instrumentation and analytical methods, including troubleshooting

  • Manage laboratory investigations to ensure timely resolution

  • Drive continuous improvement to reduce lead times and operational costs

  • Independently plan and schedule project-aligned activities

  • Train new laboratory staff

  • Support both internal/external audits and regulatory submissions


Required Qualifications:

  • Level 8 Degree (or higher) in Chemistry or related scientific discipline

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant laboratory experience

  • Experience with FDA and ICH compliance standards

  • Proficiency in software tools such as Excel, Minitab, and PowerPoint
