Team Overview: Cell Biology Applications Team (CBAT)

The CBAT team strengthens Thermo Fisher’s product portfolio and enhances customer engagement by developing and showcasing application workflows. This includes creating customer-facing resources such as:

  • Application notes

  • White papers

  • Protocols

  • Virtual training decks

These resources help guide scientists in using our products effectively to improve their research experience.


Role Summary

As Scientist II, you will contribute to innovation and customer satisfaction by developing application workflows related to cell culture consumables and instruments. You will work collaboratively with product management and R&D teams to demonstrate relevant applications for products and help bring new technologies to market.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, and execute experiments for cell biology projects

  • Collaborate with product management and R&D teams to define application demonstration requirements

  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy

  • Deliver high-quality results within project timelines, supporting commercialization phases including feasibility, development, and validation

  • Prepare customer-facing collateral such as application notes, technical guides, and training materials based on generated data

  • Train customers on workflows and provide troubleshooting support

  • Follow environmental health and safety (EHS) guidelines in the laboratory


Skills and Proficiencies

  • Extensive experience in mammalian cell culture, including primary and/or stem cells

  • Hands-on expertise in immunocytochemistry, flow cytometry, Western blotting, and qPCR

  • Experience with cell-based bioassays for recombinant proteins

  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, attention to detail, and independent decision-making skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Adaptable and agile with ability to work independently and collaboratively on diverse projects

  • Strong data interpretation and reporting skills

  • Team player with good presentation skills and ability to communicate data to cross-functional teams


Education & Experience Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Cell Biology, Biotechnology, or related Life Sciences field with 6+ years of research experience
    OR

  • PhD with 3+ years of relevant experience

  • Demonstrated expertise in research publishing and technical writing

  • GLP certification or other lab practice and EHS certifications are a plus


Work Environment

  • Laboratory setting requiring use of PPE such as lab coat, safety glasses, gloves, ear plugs, etc.
