Job Overview

Fortrea is hiring a Safety Physician to provide expert medical safety oversight for drugs, medical devices, and combination products during the post-marketing phase. This role supports global pharmacovigilance operations through comprehensive medical review of safety cases, quality control activities, signal detection, and regulatory compliance monitoring.

The Safety Physician will play a critical role in ensuring patient safety, data integrity, and high-quality safety deliverables aligned with global regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct primary medical review of Individual Case Safety Reports (ICSRs), including assessment of seriousness, causality, listedness/labeling, adverse event coding, and narrative evaluation

  • Perform secondary (QC) and retrospective (QA) medical review of safety cases to assess quality, identify error trends, and recommend improvements

  • Execute aggregate medical review and signal detection/analysis activities

  • Maintain accurate documentation and daily case updates within tracking systems

  • Ensure compliance with SLAs, KPIs, regulatory requirements, and company SOPs

  • Provide medical guidance and training to case processing teams

  • Support client engagement and strengthen sponsor relationships

  • Participate in pharmacovigilance process improvement initiatives

  • Contribute to quality enhancement strategies across safety operations

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Sciences, MD, DO, or equivalent medical qualification

  • Equivalent relevant experience may be considered

Experience Required

  • Strong working knowledge of medical sciences, diagnosis, therapeutics, and drug treatments

  • Understanding of regulatory requirements for Clinical Research

  • Knowledge of ICH-GCP guidelines

  • Up to 2 years of pharmaceutical industry experience preferred, including pharmacovigilance (case processing, medical review) and/or clinical research

  • 1–2 years of clinical practice experience preferred

  • Good understanding of global pharmacovigilance regulations and post-marketing safety frameworks

Language Proficiency

  • English Speaking: ILR Level 3+ or higher

  • English Reading/Writing: ILR Level 4+ or higher

Work Environment

  • Office-based or home-based work arrangement as determined by the line manager
