Role Overview

The Real-World Evidence (RWE) Scientist/Investigator plays a critical scientific role in developing, coordinating, and executing innovative real-world evidence strategies at a global level and in key markets.

This position partners closely with the Global RWE Strategy Therapeutic Area Lead to ensure:

  • High scientific rigor

  • Timely and cost-effective delivery

  • Ethical compliance

  • Alignment with business needs


Key Responsibilities

1. RWE Strategy & Study Execution

  • Partner with RWE Strategy Leads in designing, executing, analyzing, and interpreting epidemiological and outcomes research studies.

  • Support internal and external scientific communications.

  • Contribute to regulatory submissions and commercialization strategies.

2. Scientific & Methodological Leadership

  • Provide epidemiological and outcomes research expertise across product life cycle stages.

  • Apply innovative RWE methodologies to address evidence gaps.

  • Set methodological standards for RWE utilization.

  • Provide leadership in specific therapy areas.

3. Real-World Study Management

  • Ensure end-to-end execution of real-world studies:

    • On time

    • Within budget

    • Scientifically robust

    • Quality-compliant

  • Translate business needs into data and study requirements.

  • Manage project timelines, reporting, and budgets.

4. Data & Evidence Strategy

  • Identify and validate fit-for-purpose external data sources (claims, EMRs, registries, structured/unstructured healthcare data).

  • Collaborate with institutions and organizations for data partnerships.

  • Optimize RWE contributions across discovery, development, and commercialization.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work within complex global matrix teams.

  • Maintain proactive communication with stakeholders.

  • Anticipate risks and implement mitigation strategies.

  • Negotiate and align with internal and external partners.


Candidate Profile

Education

  • Advanced degree in:

    • Pharmacoepidemiology

    • Biostatistics

    • Health Outcomes Research

    • Or equivalent discipline

Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of RWE generation in or for the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Strong understanding of:

    • RWE applications for regulatory approval and patient access

    • Product life cycle management

    • Innovative RWE methodologies

  • Experience across multiple therapeutic areas (preferred: transplant, type 1/2 diabetes, cardiovascular).

  • Experience working in global cross-functional teams.


Technical Skills

  • Expertise in:

    • Pharmacoepidemiology

    • HEOR

    • RWE study designs and advanced methodologies

  • Hands-on experience with:

    • Claims databases

    • Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

    • Registries

    • Structured and unstructured healthcare data

  • Strong project management capabilities.

  • Ability to convert business questions into data-driven study designs.


Soft Skills
