🎯 Job Overview:

Fortrea is seeking a Research Nurse (RN, LPN, or Paramedics) to support the Clinical Pharmacology Start-up team in initiating Early Phase clinical trials.

This position involves weekend overnight shifts (Friday–Sunday, 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM), providing hands-on clinical care to study participants in Phase 1 trials.

The role offers exposure to a variety of therapeutic indications and study types (ascending dose, first-in-human, food effect, drug-to-drug interactions) while contributing directly to participant safety and study success.

Position Type: Full-time, office/clinic-based. Multiple openings.


💼 Key Responsibilities:

🔹 Participant Care & Clinical Activities

  • Provide high standard of care for clinical trial participants using nursing judgment and clinical assessment.

  • Observe participant well-being, document adverse events, and take appropriate action.

  • Obtain Informed Consent and educate participants on study procedures.

  • Administer investigational compounds according to protocol.

  • Perform study-related activities: cannulation, telemetry, vital signs, ECGs, venipuncture.

  • Collect and process biological samples; accurately record and transcribe data onto Case Report Forms (CRFs).

🔹 Operational Responsibilities

  • Assist with study start-up and daily clinical operations.

  • Support other clinical or laboratory duties as assigned.

  • Maintain clean, safe, and compliant study environment.


🎓 Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in nursing with current licensure; Paramedics must be certified.

  • Experience: 0–1 years of nursing experience; EMT, Phlebotomy, CMA, or CNA certification preferred.

  • Fortrea may consider relevant and equivalent experience in lieu of formal education.


Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Work performed in laboratory and/or clinical settings with exposure to electrical office equipment.

  • Occasional drives to site locations and domestic travel.

  • Exposure to biological fluids; PPE required (eyewear, garments, gloves).

  • Ability to work upright/stationary 10–12 hours/day.

  • Repetitive hand movements, occasional crouching, stooping, bending, and twisting.

  • Light to moderate lifting 15–20 lbs.

  • Regular attendance; varied hours may be required.
