🌟 Role Overview

Fortrea is seeking a Research Nurse I to support the Clinical Pharmacology Start-up team in initiating Early Phase clinical trials. The role provides direct exposure to a variety of therapeutic indications and study types, including ascending dose, first-in-human, food effect, and drug-to-drug interaction studies.


🏆 Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high standard of care for clinical trial participants using nursing assessment, clinical judgment, and emergency response skills.

  • Observe participant well-being, document adverse events, and take appropriate action.

  • Obtain Informed Consent and educate participants on study procedures.

  • Administer investigational compounds, including parenteral, according to protocol and regulations.

  • Perform study-related activities:

    • Cannulation

    • Telemetry

    • Holters

    • Vital signs

    • ECGs

    • Venipuncture

  • Collect and process biological samples according to protocol and SOPs.

  • Accurately record data on Case Report Forms following SOPs and protocol requirements.

  • Assist in other duties as assigned.


🎓 Qualifications

  • Education: Associate’s or BS degree in nursing with current state licensure

  • CPR/AED certified

  • ACLS certification preferred

  • 2–3 years of nursing experience

  • Relevant and equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of education


🏢 Work Environment

  • Laboratory and/or clinical environment with exposure to electrical office equipment

  • Occasional drives to site locations and domestic travel

  • Exposure to biological fluids

  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) required: eyewear, garments, gloves


Physical Requirements

  • Upright and/or stationary for 10–12 hours per day

  • Repetitive hand movement for lab and computer work

  • Occasional crouching, stooping, bending, twisting of upper body and neck

  • Ability to use a variety of in-house and off-the-shelf software

  • Light to moderate lifting/carrying (15–20 lbs)

  • Regular and consistent attendance required

  • Varied hours may be required
