Job Overview

The Research Investigator – CADD (Computer-Aided Drug Design) will be part of the Medicinal Chemistry (MedChem) CADD team, providing computational chemistry expertise to support drug discovery programs. The role involves collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, utilizing computational techniques to drive structure-activity relationship (SAR) insights, and contributing to innovative drug design strategies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide computational chemistry support to drug discovery programs.
  • Analyze structure-activity relationships (SAR) across in vitro biology, DMPK, structural, and computational datasets.
  • Collaborate closely with medicinal chemists to drive hypothesis-driven compound design.
  • Utilize ligand- and structure-based computational approaches, including docking, pharmacophore modeling, and molecular dynamics simulations.
  • Identify and implement computational techniques tailored to specific project challenges.
  • Present research findings at CADD, chemistry, and project team meetings.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant scientific literature and emerging trends in computational chemistry.
  • Maintain accurate records of research activities and ensure data integrity.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Education:

  • PhD in Computational Chemistry or Computer-Aided Drug Design (CADD).

Experience:

  • 0-5 years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries.

Technical Skills

  • Strong expertise in structure-based and ligand-based computational methods, including:
    • Molecular mechanics and quantum mechanics
    • Docking, pharmacophore modeling, and molecular dynamics simulations
    • QM (Quantum Mechanics) calculations
  • Proficiency in statistical methods and physical organic chemistry.
  • Coding skills in Python and/or Unix Shell scripting.
  • Ability to collaborate with medicinal chemistry, biology, and DMPK scientists.
  • Experience in drug discovery within oncology, immunology, cardiovascular, or fibrosis research areas.
