Purpose:
Scientific data and information are core assets of Lilly. Providing balanced, objective, and accurate information to regulators, the scientific community, healthcare professionals, payers, and patients across the drug development lifecycle is fundamental to Lilly.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Content Strategy: Document Preparation, Development, and Finalization/Document Management

  • Collect and evaluate data from multiple sources to create a cohesive content strategy.

  • Plan, write, edit, review, and publish scientific data in peer-reviewed journals and forums.

  • Conduct document initiation through a kick-off meeting to align the authoring team.

  • Ensure clear, accurate, and concise presentation of data.

  • Maintain consistency across documents, ensuring statements and conclusions are supported by data.

  • Coordinate reviews, collate comments, adjust content, and prepare the final version.

  • Conduct quality checks for accuracy.

  • Exhibit flexibility in managing multiple document types.

  • Advocate for appropriate authorship criteria.

  • Develop and prepare presentations with internal and external speakers.

  • Build and manage relationships with vendors/alliance partners.

2. Project and Stakeholder Management

  • Lead the writing process using effective project management skills.

  • Develop and communicate project timelines.

  • Anticipate and mitigate risks to ensure timely delivery.

  • Collaborate with teams to ensure smooth document development and escalate issues when needed.

  • Effectively communicate project status to stakeholders.

3. Knowledge and Skills Development

  • Maintain and enhance therapeutic area knowledge for assigned projects.

  • Develop scientific communication skills to align with audience needs and technology evolution.

  • Stay informed about publication guidelines and document development processes.

  • Participate effectively in publication planning and current literature updates.

4. Knowledge Sharing

  • Coach others by sharing technical expertise and guidance.

  • Network with other teams to identify and share best practices.

  • Contribute to process improvements and suggest opportunities for enhancement.

  • Provide database and document management system expertise.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in a scientific field.

  • Experience writing scientific publications.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Successful completion of a writing exercise (part of the evaluation process).

Additional Preferences:

  • Advanced degree (PhD, MD, PharmD, MA, MBBS) in science or health-related fields.

  • Expertise in health, communications, health outcomes, or public health-related areas.

  • Demonstrated verbal and written English skills in medical, scientific, or technical writing.

  • Experience in clinical development, clinical trials, or regulatory processes.

  • Project management and time management skills.

  • High-level end-user computer skills (word processing, graphics, spreadsheets, presentations).

  • Extensive experience in writing, reviewing, and publishing scientific materials.
