Job Overview
The Principal Statistician provides advanced biostatistical leadership and technical expertise across health economics and outcomes research (HEOR), evidence synthesis, clinical trial analysis, and real-world data projects. This role supports strategic research initiatives, statistical modeling, and data-driven decision-making to support pharmaceutical and life sciences clients in market access, value communication, and health technology assessment.

The position involves designing and implementing statistical methodologies, leading complex data analyses, mentoring junior team members, and contributing to organizational thought leadership in innovative statistical approaches.

This opportunity is ideal for experienced statisticians with strong expertise in Bayesian methods, network meta-analysis, and health economics research.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support biostatistical projects across HEOR, clinical trials, and real-world evidence studies.

  • Conduct advanced statistical analyses including indirect treatment comparisons, network meta-analysis (NMA), multi-level network meta-analysis, propensity score matching, and simulation studies.

  • Apply Bayesian statistical modeling using tools such as Stan, rstan, JAGS, or OpenBUGS.

  • Design statistical analysis plans, protocols, and data analysis strategies.

  • Generate analysis datasets, tables, figures, and statistical reports.

  • Interpret results and communicate statistical findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Support health technology assessment submissions and value communication initiatives.

  • Ensure quality control and validation of statistical deliverables.

  • Lead statistical contributions to manuscripts, abstracts, presentations, and technical documentation.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, data management, and research teams.

  • Coordinate data transfers and ensure compliance with data privacy and confidentiality standards.

  • Develop innovative analytical tools and code using R, Shiny, or related programming languages.

  • Provide statistical leadership during client discussions and project meetings.

Leadership and Strategic Responsibilities

  • Mentor and supervise junior statisticians and research staff.

  • Contribute to company thought leadership initiatives in statistical methodology and HEOR.

  • Support business development activities, including proposal preparation and technical consultation.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.

  • Participate in hiring, training, and performance evaluation processes.

  • Support organizational strategy related to statistical innovation and research excellence.

Education Requirements

  • Master’s or PhD in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, or related quantitative field preferred.

Experience Required

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of direct experience in biostatistics, health research, health economics, health technology assessment, or related fields.

  • Proven experience in HEOR methodologies and evidence synthesis.

  • Hands-on experience in Bayesian statistical analysis and network meta-analysis required.

  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, consulting, or life sciences environments preferred.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong expertise in statistical methods supporting HEOR and HTA research.

  • Advanced programming skills in R and familiarity with reproducible workflows (Git, R Markdown, AWS S3, RStudio tools).

  • Experience with evidence synthesis, real-world evidence analysis, and clinical data modeling.

  • Strong analytical thinking and complex problem-solving capabilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver results in deadline-driven environments.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.

  • Strong leadership and team mentoring abilities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
