Job Summary
The Principal Clinical Programmer will lead clinical programming operations using Rave and/or Veeva EDC, ensuring efficient database design, data validation, and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Programming & Technical Support

Act as the subject matter expert for Rave, Veeva EDC, Oracle Inform, Oracle OC/RDC, SAS, and related tools.

Develop, validate, and maintain databases, edit checks, import/export processes, and custom reports.

Monitor applications for workflow alerts, system errors, and performance issues, troubleshooting as needed.

Oversee system integrations, application updates, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
Project Leadership & Stakeholder Collaboration

Serve as Lead Clinical Programmer on multiple concurrent studies (5-20 studies).

Collaborate with sponsors and internal teams to finalize specifications, coding setup, and data validation.

Participate in project meetings, bid defenses, and sponsor audits.

Provide mentorship and training to junior programmers.
Process Improvement & Compliance

Ensure high-quality deliverables by reviewing multi-study core programming outputs.

Manage clinical programming budgets, resource allocation, and project timelines.

Assist in change order management and vendor coordination.

Stay updated on industry standards, regulatory requirements, and new technologies.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience in end-to-end clinical programming in Rave or Veeva EDC.

Proficiency in PL/SQL, SAS, C#, or VB (preferred).
Soft Skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Additional Requirements

Experience in a matrix-structured environment (preferred).

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Ability to travel up to 25% as needed.
