Job Summary

The Principal Clinical Programmer will lead clinical programming operations using Rave and/or Veeva EDC, ensuring efficient database design, data validation, and compliance with industry standards.


Key Responsibilities

Clinical Programming & Technical Support

  • Act as the subject matter expert for Rave, Veeva EDC, Oracle Inform, Oracle OC/RDC, SAS, and related tools.

  • Develop, validate, and maintain databases, edit checks, import/export processes, and custom reports.

  • Monitor applications for workflow alerts, system errors, and performance issues, troubleshooting as needed.

  • Oversee system integrations, application updates, and user acceptance testing (UAT).

Project Leadership & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Serve as Lead Clinical Programmer on multiple concurrent studies (5-20 studies).

  • Collaborate with sponsors and internal teams to finalize specifications, coding setup, and data validation.

  • Participate in project meetings, bid defenses, and sponsor audits.

  • Provide mentorship and training to junior programmers.

Process Improvement & Compliance

  • Ensure high-quality deliverables by reviewing multi-study core programming outputs.

  • Manage clinical programming budgets, resource allocation, and project timelines.

  • Assist in change order management and vendor coordination.

  • Stay updated on industry standards, regulatory requirements, and new technologies.


Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Experience in end-to-end clinical programming in Rave or Veeva EDC.

  • Proficiency in PL/SQL, SAS, C#, or VB (preferred).

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Additional Requirements

  • Experience in a matrix-structured environment (preferred).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Ability to travel up to 25% as needed.
