Principal Clinical Data Standards Consultant

Job Summary:

ICON plc, a global leader in healthcare intelligence and clinical research, is hiring a Principal Clinical Data Standards Consultant in Bangalore/Chennai. If you bring 10–15 years of experience in clinical data standards, SDTM, and R/SAS programming, this is your opportunity to lead the implementation and governance of clinical data frameworks that drive regulatory success and innovation in drug development.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage ICON’s SDTM standards libraries and programming tools

  • Offer consulting on SDTM compliance and best practices, internally and externally

  • Guide sponsors in SDTM data standards creation, governance, and maintenance

  • Participate in global data standards governance initiatives

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence technology improvements for standards implementation

  • Mentor junior staff and lead projects related to data standardization


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 10–15 years of experience in clinical data standards or related roles

  • Expert-level understanding of CDISC SDTM, Implementation Guides, and Controlled Terminology

  • Advanced skills in R and SAS programming

  • Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities

  • Strong problem-solving and cross-functional communication skills

  • Experience contributing to strategic department-level initiatives

  • Ability to manage complexity, influence outcomes, and guide stakeholders
