About the Role:

ICON plc, a global leader in healthcare intelligence and clinical research, is seeking a Principal Clinical Data Science Lead to oversee the collection and management of clinical trial data from multiple sources. This senior role involves advanced subject matter expertise in Data Management (DM), leadership in vendor oversight, and active contribution to risk analysis and data integrity across clinical studies.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the collection and integration of clinical trial data from multiple external and internal sources.

  • Serve as a senior subject matter expert in Data Management, capable of independently managing multiple studies.

  • Conduct vendor oversight activities across various clinical studies and contribute to refining oversight processes.

  • Review and interpret Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) at aggregate levels—across sites, regions, and countries—to assist with root cause analysis and resolution.

  • Collaborate closely with clinical operations, investigators, and cross-functional stakeholders to streamline data flow and resolve data-related issues.

  • Provide training and mentoring to junior data management staff to elevate team capability and knowledge.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Health-related field, or Computer Science.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficient with database management software, medical coding tools, and central monitoring tools.

    • Strong understanding of clinical trial data sources and external data integration.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 8+ years in the pharmaceutical, clinical research, or health services industry.

    • At least 6 years of experience specifically as a Clinical Data Manager with increasing responsibility.
