Job Title: Ophthalmic Technician I – Ophthalmology Float

Location: Pasadena, CA (with travel to Arcadia & Orange County)
Salary Range: $34.67 – $45.74 per hour
Job Type: Full-Time (Staff – Career)
Work Mode: On-site, Float (multi-location)


Job Summary:

UCLA Health is hiring a dedicated Ophthalmic Technician I to support the Doheny Eye Centers across Pasadena, Arcadia, and Orange County. As part of the ophthalmology float team, you will deliver high-quality patient care by assisting in eye exams, diagnostic imaging, and clinic operations. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates passionate about advancing their clinical skills in a top-tier academic health system specializing in ophthalmic care.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct technical assistance during ophthalmology exams and procedures

  • Conduct diagnostic imaging (OCT, fundus photography, visual field testing, etc.)

  • Assist physicians in setup and support during minor procedures

  • Manage patient preparation and documentation

  • Maintain smooth clinic flow by collaborating with providers and staff

  • Perform clerical or administrative tasks assigned by Clinic Managers

  • Travel to Doheny Eye Centers in Pasadena, Arcadia, and Orange County as required


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; formal ophthalmic training preferred

  • 1–2 years of experience as an ophthalmic technician or medical assistant preferred

  • Strong understanding of ophthalmic diagnostic tools and procedures

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

  • Ability to travel regularly between assigned UCLA Health locations

  • Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to patient-focused care
