Position Overview
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) for Oncology is a field-based, non-promotional role that reports to the Associate Director, Head of MSL. The MSL will be based in the North of Germany, covering Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg, and the northern part of Niedersachsen. The primary responsibility is to support the commercialization of in-market and future Jazz Pharma products by providing scientific expertise and executing the Medical Plan in line with local affiliates' strategies.

This role is crucial for responding to unsolicited medical inquiries, building relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), and facilitating unbiased scientific exchanges. The MSL will also ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks, including GCP, IFPMA, and Jazz Pharmaceuticals' policies.


Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Provision of Medical Information

    • Provide high-quality, balanced scientific information to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Deliver scientific educational meetings in accordance with local regulatory and legal guidelines.
    • Offer scientific information to support the appropriate positioning of Jazz medicines within national protocols, guidelines, and formularies.
  • Scientific Expertise and Support

    • Stay updated on the latest developments in oncology and Jazz products.
    • Position Jazz Pharmaceuticals as a scientific leader in hematology/oncology.
    • Attend scientific congresses to support KOL activities and stay abreast of the latest research.
    • Provide medical guidance and governance for all oncology therapeutic areas at Jazz.
    • Support company-sponsored and investigator-initiated research (IIR) and manage local implementation of sponsored studies.
  • External Relationship Development

    • Develop strong relationships with national and local Key External Experts (KEEs) to exchange scientific information.
    • Support national KEE advocacy and provide clinical and scientific data to influence decision-making.
    • Build and maintain a national and regional database of strategic contacts for oncology products.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a key account management approach.
  • Compliance and Reporting

    • Adhere to national and local codes of practice and company standards.
    • Maintain ethical conduct and act as an ambassador for Jazz Pharmaceuticals.
    • Prepare and implement personal development plans and provide timely reports as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Self-starter with strong intrinsic motivation.
  • Ability to analyze and communicate complex scientific data.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
  • Experience in solid tumors is essential, with preference for expertise in GI tumors or HER2 area.
  • Deep knowledge of the oncology market in Germany.
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English.

Required/Preferred Education and Licenses

  • Scientific graduate in life sciences (Master's/Diploma or higher).

Physical Demands

  • Responsibilities may require working outside of standard hours to meet business demands.
