Role Overview
AbbVie is seeking a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to provide scientific and clinical expertise for assigned therapeutic areas. The MSL will engage with healthcare professionals, academic institutions, and key opinion leaders to communicate AbbVie’s clinical data, support research initiatives, and strengthen scientific credibility. This role requires a deep understanding of clinical practice, medical research, and patient care along with strong presentation and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a scientific and medical resource internally and externally, supporting Medical Affairs, R&D, and Clinical Operations.
Develop and maintain strategic relationships with thought leaders, physicians, and academic centers to facilitate knowledge exchange.
Communicate scientific data, clinical evidence, and product information to healthcare professionals, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory guidelines.
Support Advisory Boards, Round Tables, and other medical education activities, providing clinical insights and expertise.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Commercial, Medical Affairs, and Therapeutic Leads to align priorities, programs, and strategic initiatives.
Provide training and guidance to field teams and internal stakeholders on clinical and therapeutic updates.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of field activities, medical interactions, and key insights.
Travel extensively (~60% of the time) to meet with healthcare providers and support field medical initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Medical degree (MD/MBBS) or PharmD with relevant post-qualification experience.
2–5 years of experience in Medical Affairs, clinical research, or the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
Proven ability to convey complex clinical and scientific information to diverse audiences effectively.
Strong presentation, teaching, and interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset.
Experience in relationship management with key opinion leaders, healthcare providers, and cross-functional teams.
Analytical skills to evaluate clinical data and provide actionable insights.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant digital tools.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements, ethical standards, and compliance guidelines in pharma/medical affairs.
