Position Summary

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based scientific expert responsible for engaging healthcare professionals (HCPs), thought leaders, and stakeholders in peer-to-peer scientific discussions. The role supports appropriate use of medicines, improves patient access, and advances medical strategy through insights, clinical trial support, and scientific exchange in Haematology & Oncology.

MSLs typically spend 60–70% of their time in the field engaging external stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

External Scientific Engagement

  • Develop and maintain relationships with thought leaders (TLs), HCPs, and healthcare stakeholders.

  • Conduct scientific discussions on disease management, treatment options, and BMS therapies.

  • Respond to unsolicited medical and scientific queries with accurate, balanced information.

  • Engage stakeholders through:

    • 1:1 meetings

    • Group presentations

    • Virtual interactions

  • Build and execute medical interaction plans for key accounts (e.g., government and institutional healthcare systems).

  • Continuously assess clinical landscape, treatment trends, and unmet medical needs.

  • Gather and communicate actionable medical insights to internal teams.

  • Report adverse events and safety information as per company SOPs.


Country Medical Plan Contribution

  • Develop territory-based medical engagement plans aligned with therapeutic strategy.

  • Contribute to institution/account planning with cross-functional teams.

  • Execute assigned medical activities as part of the field medical strategy.

  • Support scientific programs and medical education initiatives.


Clinical Trial & Research Support

  • Support interventional and non-interventional studies (NIS/NIR).

  • Identify and evaluate clinical trial sites and investigators.

  • Support patient recruitment efforts in collaboration with clinical development teams.

  • Assist investigator-sponsored research (ISR) submissions and processes.

  • Provide feasibility insights based on field experience.

  • Support CRO-sponsored studies as required.

  • Ensure compliance with pharmacovigilance requirements in clinical studies.


Medical Education & Internal Support

  • Provide scientific training to internal teams:

    • Commercial

    • Regulatory

    • Pharmacovigilance

    • Market Access

    • Legal

    • HEOR

  • Support promotional and scientific meetings with unbiased clinical data.

  • Evaluate speakers and support BMS-contracted scientific programs.


Patient Advocacy & Access Support

  • Support patient education initiatives in collaboration with advocacy groups.

  • Contribute to development of patient education materials.

  • Support initiatives that improve patient access to therapies.


Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure all activities comply with:

    • BMS policies

    • Ethical standards

    • Local regulations

  • Report adverse events and safety information promptly.

  • Maintain scientific integrity in all communications.


Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • MBBS or MD (preferred requirement)

Experience

  • 1–2 years of field medical affairs experience preferred

  • Experience in Oncology and/or Haematology strongly preferred

  • Exposure to clinical research or scientific environment required
