Role Overview

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) – Cardiology is a field-based medical affairs professional responsible for the scientific exchange of medical, clinical, and research information with key external stakeholders. Acting as a trusted scientific partner, the MSL engages proactively and reactively with Thought Leaders (TLs), medical societies, and healthcare professionals to support evidence-based decision-making within the cardiology and neurology landscape, including stroke-related therapies.

This role plays a vital part in clinical research support, medical education, advisory board engagement, and congress participation, while ensuring full compliance with local regulations and global medical affairs standards.


Key Responsibilities

Scientific Exchange & Thought Leader Engagement

  • Plan, prepare, and conduct high-quality scientific discussions with Thought Leaders (HCPs) as a peer-level scientific expert.

  • Proactively disseminate on-label scientific information and respond to unsolicited off-label queries in compliance with local regulations.

  • Communicate and clarify scientific data, study protocols, congress abstracts, and peer-reviewed literature using innovative engagement formats.


Clinical Research & Trial Support

  • Support company-sponsored and investigator-initiated clinical research activities.

  • Contribute to medical insights related to ongoing and planned clinical trials.

  • Maintain scientific knowledge of clinical trial design, rationale, and outcomes relevant to the therapeutic area.


Medical Societies & Advisory Boards

  • Respond to scientific and medical inquiries from medical societies related to company products.

  • Organize, support, and participate in advisory board meetings, ensuring high scientific standards and documentation.


Congress & Scientific Meeting Participation

  • Attend national and international medical congresses and conventions.

  • Engage with Thought Leaders, establish new professional relationships, and gather competitive and scientific intelligence in accordance with compliance guidelines.


Scientific Education & Training

  • Plan and coordinate scientific education programs, training sessions, and medical meetings within the assigned therapeutic area.

  • Support continuous education initiatives for external stakeholders in alignment with the Medical Affairs strategy.


Thought Leader Strategy & Planning

  • Identify, profile, and segment Thought Leaders within the cardiology and neurology ecosystem.

  • Contribute to Medical Affairs plans by providing insights into TL expertise, interests, and engagement preferences.

  • Support strategic engagement planning to maximize scientific impact.


Reporting & Activity Tracking

  • Submit accurate and timely activity reports.

  • Track engagements against agreed objectives and key performance indicators.


Additional Scientific Support

  • Provide external scientific support, education, and training activities beyond core responsibilities as required by business needs.


Qualifications & Experience

Educational Qualification (Required):

  • MD / MBBS / BDS / MDS or equivalent medical or dental degree

Experience Required:

  • 0–3 years of experience as a Medical Science Liaison, Medical Advisor, or in a related Medical Affairs role preferred

  • Fresh medical graduates with strong therapeutic knowledge may be considered

  • Prior exposure to cardiology, neurology, or stroke-related therapies is an advantage


Knowledge & Skills

  • Foundational knowledge of the cardiology, stroke, and neurology therapeutic areas

  • Basic understanding of clinical trial design, methodology, and rationale

  • Ability to work independently in a field-based role and collaboratively in cross-functional teams

  • Strong relationship-building skills with external medical experts

  • Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills

  • High ethical standards with strong compliance orientation
