Medical Director – Clinical Oncology (Takeda) – Mumbai, India

Job Summary

Takeda is hiring a Medical Director – Clinical Oncology for its Mumbai-based team. This is a high-impact leadership role within the Oncology Therapeutic Area Unit (OTAU), responsible for guiding India’s clinical strategy and execution. You will work closely with global teams to optimize clinical trials, accelerate R&D efforts, and expand oncology research capabilities across India. Ideal for a physician-scientist with strong clinical oncology expertise and pharmaceutical experience.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead clinical development strategy and trial execution for oncology programs in India.

  • Partner with global OTAU and cross-regional teams to align India’s efforts with global goals.

  • Oversee clinical trial design, study protocol development, and medical monitoring activities.

  • Build investigator networks and strengthen external engagement strategies.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance and support NDA/MAA submissions.

  • Drive country-specific insights into global development plans.

  • Participate in alliance management, due diligence, and business development initiatives.

  • Mentor and build a high-performing India oncology clinical science team.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • MD or MD/PhD (Malignant Hematology/Medical Oncology preferred).

  • 3–5 years of clinical research experience (pharma, CRO, or academic).

  • 4–5+ years of leadership or people management experience.

  • Experience with multi-regional trials and NDA/MAA submissions.

  • Expertise in ICH-GCP, Indian regulatory environment, and clinical trial operations.

  • Strong communication, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills.

  • Fluency in English and medical writing capabilities.

  • Familiarity with oncology trial trends and mechanisms of action.
